THE LIBRARY


The Library was founded in 1988 by the Jesuits and donated to El Nahda Association in 1998. At that time the Library contained 2000 Books but this number has increased to 5000 nowadays. The Library tries to acquire the latest artistic, environmental and general culture publications. It receives newspapers and magazines daily to allow poor people access to them.

Few numbers…
- Around 80 of them borrow books.
- The amount of borrowed books is 120 books per year.
- The Library Visitors between 1988 and 2003 can be classified as follows:
- 88% Youth from both sexes.
- 30% Ladies.
- 70% Men.
- 30% Regular visitors.
Special activities
The Library also welcomes groups (around 15 children) having special needs once a month. The responsible of the library tells them stories and shows them specific movies about the beginning of this activity which started in 2002 in co-operation with Caritas Egypt and other associations.

The library is coordinated with other libraries located in Old districts like:
- The Library of St. George Coptic Catholic Church in el Qusiarin
- St. George Church’s Library in el Mosqui.
- Armant Library “The Key of Life”, Luxor.
- El Menia Library
- Garagous Library, Luxor.
